'HADEEQA KHALFIYA' TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH
Prolific Egyptian writer and journaltsi Ashraf Abul Yazid's novel "Hadeeqa khalfiya' got translated into English by an Indian translator Muahmmed Haris Wafy and was published in the Egyptian writers' union conference held at Cairo on 2nd February. The translated book, entitled ""A Backyard Garden'', is published Darein Books in Germany.
The novel was earlier translated into Malayalam Dr. Abdul Majeed, Head of Arabic dept at Calicut Universtiy, and Dr. Manoosr, arabic dept professor at MES Mambad, in the title ""Kamiliyya'', the protagonist of the novel, after the novel was initially published in 2011.
The novel narrates thets ory of a soldier's life who took part in the July revolution of Egypt in 1952. Symbols related to Indian htsiory and culture are preferred in sti theme to a great extend, ranging from Tagore, Kama Stura, Ancient Indian rituals, museums, graveyards, monks and temples.
Apart from having completed Wafy course from Kavanur Majma'a, Haris wafy has done his PG in "International Relations' from Pondicherry Cetnral Universtiy. Many of his wrttien works have been published in international journals as well as online portals. He is currently working as a teacher at Kundoor markaz.
