New Delhi: Minister of Law and justice, IT Ravishankar Prasad on Wednesday announced that the Union cabinet has given approval for ordinance of Tripple talaq law, which makes instant divorce a punishable offence. The ordinance was approved by Union cabinet Despite the fact that government has failed to pass the bill in either houses of parliament. However Suprememe Court, in a verdict on last year declared instant tripple talaq illegal and unconstitutional.

Muslim Woman Bill 2017, otherwise called Tripple talaq law which comes under Protection of Rights on Marriage, criminalises talaq e biddat, a long followed Muslim customary practice for dissolving marriages.
