തിരുവനന്തപുരം: നാവികസേനാ ദിനാഘോഷങ്ങളില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാനായി രാഷ്ട്രപതി ദ്രൗപദി മുര്‍മുവിനെ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെത്തിച്ചത് മലയാളി പൈലറ്റ്. വ്യോമസേനയിലെ വിങ് കമാന്‍ഡറായ പത്തനംതിട്ട സ്വദേശി ക്രിസ്റ്റി ജോര്‍ജാണ് രാഷ്ട്രപതിയെ ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍നിന്ന് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെത്തിച്ചത്. കഴക്കൂട്ടം സൈനിക സ്‌കൂളിലെ പൂര്‍വവിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയായ ക്രിസ്റ്റി, കഴിഞ്ഞ എട്ടു വര്‍ഷമായി രാഷ്ട്രപതി, ഉപരാഷ്ട്രപതി, പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി എന്നിവരുടെ വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ പൈലറ്റുമാരുള്‍പ്പെടുന്ന വിവിഐപി സ്‌ക്വാഡ്രണിലാണ് ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.

പല തവണ രാഷ്ട്രപതിയെയും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയെയുമൊക്കെ വിദേശ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലുള്‍പ്പെടെ ക്രിസ്റ്റി എത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്രമോദിയുടെ കേരളസന്ദര്‍ശന സമയത്തും വിമാനം പറത്തിയിരുന്നു. ബോയിങ് 737 ശ്രേണിയില്‍പ്പെടുന്ന ഇന്ത്യ വണ്‍ എന്ന വിമാനത്തിലാണ് രാഷ്ട്രപതി സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത്.

വ്യോമസേനയുടെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലുള്ള എയര്‍ ഹെഡ്ക്വാര്‍ട്ടേഴ്‌സ് കമ്യൂണിക്കേഷന്‍ സ്‌ക്വാഡ്രനാണ് ഈ വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ പൂര്‍ണനിയന്ത്രണം. വ്യോമസേനയില്‍ പൈലറ്റായി ജോലി തുടങ്ങിയ ക്രിസ്റ്റി ബംഗളൂരുവിലെ പരിശീലനകേന്ദ്രത്തില്‍ ഇന്‍സ്ട്രക്ടറായും ജോലി നോക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

പത്തനംതിട്ട സന്തോഷ് ജങ്ഷനില്‍ കുവൈറ്റ് എയര്‍വേയ്‌സ് മുന്‍ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്‍ ജോര്‍ജ് വര്‍ഗീസിന്റെയും പത്തനംതിട്ട കാതോലിക്കേറ്റ് കോളജിലെ റിട്ട. അധ്യാപിക ഡോ. വത്സമ്മ എം. സാമുവേലിന്റെയും മകനാണ്. ഭാര്യ നീതു ഐടി പ്രൊഫഷണലാണ്. എവിലിന്‍, അമീലിയ എന്നിവരാണ് ഇവരുടെ മക്കള്‍.

Wing Commander Kristy George, a native of Pathanamthitta, Kerala, piloted President Draupadi Murmu from New Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram for the Navy Day celebrations. A former student of Kizhakkootam Sainik School, Kristy has been part of the VIP squadron for eight years, flying planes for the President, Vice President, and Prime Minister of India. Kristy has also piloted flights for Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visits to Kerala and has extensive experience with Boeing 737 aircraft, specifically the India One plane used for presidential travel. The Air Headquarters Communication Squadron of the Indian Air Force manages complete control of these flights.Kristy began his career as a pilot in the Indian Air Force and has also served as an instructor at the Bangalore training center. He is the son of George Varghese, a former Kuwait Airways employee, and Dr. Valsamma M. Samuel, a retired teacher at Pathanamthitta Catholic College. His wife, Neethu, is an IT professional, and they have two daughters, Evelin and Amelia.
