Bread tossed out of Ayurvedic hospital menus

Tiruvananthapuram: Health department has decided remove Baked Breads off Government Ayurvedic Hospital menu for admitted patients. The decission was taken based on the studies conducted by a group of ayurvedic medical officers and nutrition experts.
The newly revised menu includes Puttu(steemed rice cake), mung beans, wheet, sooji, oats etc.
Earlier diet for admitted patients included bread and milk for breakfast and rice soup and pulses for lunch and dinner. With the revised menu the major changes happens in breakfast. The idea of change in meal menu was based on the ayurvedic principle that- quality of food consumed by the patients, also plays an important role in treatment.
